When the Federal Government recently announced financial aid packages for the struggling Arts industry, Jared Hawke had high hopes it would help keep his lighting event company afloat.
For 21 years Frontier Lighting provided lighting and sound for major concerts and events like Tim Minchin, Jimmy Barnes, Pink and most recently the AFL Grand Final.
But last week, after failing to secure one of the low-interest government supported loans, Jared says he had no other option but to put his business in to voluntary administration.
Jared says he feels sick when federal politicians say they’re available and helping small businesses.
“Its just a blatant lie, unfortunately it’s just a facade that they’re putting up,” he said.
“It looks like they’re helping us but they’re not.”
He spoke to Nadia Mitsopoulos about what happened and why he feels so let down by government promises of help.
