Millionaire Bell Group liquidator Anthemis faces wind-up order of his own

The perth accountant who pocketed millions in fees over the drawn-out liquidation of Alan Bond’s billion-dollar Bell Group has found his company on the other end of a wind-up order at the hands of the tax boss.

The Commissioner of State Revenue has launched Federal Court action to have company Anthemis wound up, an entity led by veteran insolvency accountant Garry John Trevor.

But it is not yet clear why RevenueWA has begun the wind-up action, which was the subject of a notice issued by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission on Monday.

Trevor served as partner of insolvency firm Ferrier Hodgson before it was acquired by KPMG, stepping in to spearhead the liquidation of Metropolis City nightclub owner Emerald Entertainment and gold producer Sons of Gwalia.

However, he is best known for his work as the court-appointed liquidator in the carving up of Bell Group’s European bonds arm, a role which netted him almost $5 million in fees when the three-decade long action finally concluded in 2020.
