Perth home building company Tingey Development Group collapses – leaving behind more than a dozen unfinished projects

An award-winning home building company has collapsed after just two years of operation.

perth-based Tingey Development Group was wound up by liquidators Hall and Chadwick on Wednesday.

It’s the third registered building contractor in Western Australia to enter insolvency since June 30.

The company leaves behind at least 15 incomplete housing projects, according to state government department Building and Energy.

The department has urged homeowners with unfinished or defective projects to  contact insurer QBE to discuss home indemnity insurance arrangements.

‘Home indemnity insurance provides financial protection for homeowners in situations such as the insolvency of their builder,’ executive director Daniel Kearney said.

‘Contacting the insurance provider enables homeowners to begin the process of engaging another registered builder to complete the work or managing other remedies they may be entitled to.’
